It’ll set you back £468 which might sound a fair old wedge but which will cover not just a genuine once-in-a-lifetime experience, but entry to Race, Rock ‘n’ Ride, your drag safety gear, performance certificate and souvenir tee-shirt.
If this one’s on your bucket list then shake a leg as there will be just four runs on each day of the show and you must book in advance. For more details click here.
High voltage entertainment.
Among those putting the rock into Race, Rock ‘n’ Ride will be Live/Wire, an awesome AC/DC tribute act who will take you on a two-hour journey through the hard-rocking Aussies’ back catalogue.
There’ll be no comfort breaks on the Highway to Hell as the band power through a set featuring monster tunes such as Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Whole Lotta Rosie, Back in Black and many, many more.
The show’s a visual treat too, the band performing against a stack of mighty Marshall amps before cannons bring the set to a dramatic close.
Live/Wire headline a Saturday evening bill which also features TotalRock and Vicious Breed DJ Tina Saul who’ll be pumping out the rock harder and faster than a miner on meth!
Japanese jewels.
It’s not going to be all roaring machines and hollering heavy rockers. Just mainly. But if you want to escape the noise and enjoy some quiet contemplation of beauty then get yourself over to the Retro Zone.
There you’ll find an extensive array of classic Japanese motorcycles, beautifully restored to museum standard. Among them you’ll find, of course, the all-conquering FS1-E plus stalwarts from the Suzuki stable including the twin exhaust – ‘power pipe’ in the manufacturer’s lingo - Stinger and GTs.
Our friends over at Back Street Heroes will also be displaying much magnificent metal at a Show & Shine which will feature a deliciously varied line-up, including customs and classics. Plus – do the delights ever end? –some grand old ladies of the track will be flaunting their beauty and getting fired up on show both days at the Classic Racer Gran Prix Paddock.
Steve’s stunts.
No self-respecting bike show would be complete without a top notch stunt display. Race, Rock ‘n’ Ride will, then, be revelling in introspective regard as it presents three time trials world champ, Steve Colley.
Colley is a class act as this sweet compilation video neatly shows. Dubbed “Mr Showtime”, the Manx-based rider offers a stunning repertoire which demonstrates truly masterful control of his machine. It’s spinning on a sixpence kind of stuff, were that little piece of silver to be found upon some sort of peculiar obstacle 20 feet off the ground.
Colley, whose trophy cabinet also hosts three British solo trials titles and 11 Manx National trophies, is also the only stunt rider in the world to perform stunts one a mono bike. Yes a single wheeled motorcycle. That has no brake.
Remember you can’t Sky Plus this so make sure you catch Steve at the Live Action Arena where he’ll be performing three times daily. Entry is included in your ticket price.
When other shows will have no truck….
….Race, Rock ‘N’ Ride has monsters both to ride and watch. Stuntfest favourite, the Podzilla Monster Truck, will be showing off what you can do with 1350 of horsepower, 10,000lbs in weight and tyres the size of small European country. That thing chews up cars like an ill-trained Chihuahua in a sofa factory, as you can see here.
But this is will be a show where you don’t just see, but do. So yes that does mean you have a ride. At hand will be the Red Dragon Monster Truck, a mighty 15ft high, 6.5 litre V8 Chevvy powered beast, kitted out with passenger seats. This immense machine has also now been fitted the Adrenaline Seat, the prime passenger position situated next to driver Neil Hems.
For the kids there are even mini monsters to ride. You see, they’ve thought of everything!
Join the jet set.
There’s yet more furiously fast four-wheeled fun to be had courtesy of Fireforce 3, the world’s fastest jet funny car. This piece of kit really is faster than biological waste departing a digging tool having claimed a world record when reaching 336 mph in a staggeringly brief 5.793 seconds. This flame-spewing monster presents one hell of a spectacle as it chews up the Santa Pod strip. It is, as the fella at the end of this video pithily notes, quick. Well, with an engine generating the equivalent of 10,000 bhp, you’ve got to expect it to be quite nippy!
A Principal stand.
Last but not least, as, appropriately enough, principal sponsors of Rock, Race ‘n’ Ride, you’ll find the Principal Insurance team out in force. Not only will our staff be on hand to chat about your bike, classic, high value and high performance car insurance (and more) needs, but our ever popular Principal Girls will be out and about, distributing freebies and handling paddock duties.
This, ladies and gentleman, is going to be one helluva show. We’ll see you there!
