How quickly can I be on the road?

You can buy a policy to start within 15-30 minutes. Your Insurance Certificate is available to download after you’ve paid, so you can drive as soon as your policy starts.

Can I insure a hired or rented vehicle?

You can can insure hired motorhomes but not hired or rented cars, vans or other vehicles.

Do I have to be the registered keeper or owner to buy short-term insurance?

No – you don’t need to be the registered keeper, as long as you have the owner’s permission!

Is there a maximum weight for the vehicle?

The maximum weight for motorhomes and campervans is 5 tonnes.

Can I insure my vehicle if it has been modified?

Yes, but the only modifications accepted are LPG conversions, disabled access and fitted tow bars.

Can you arrange insurance for motorhomes that have been exported or imported?

No, we can’t arrange temporary insurance for motorhomes or campervans that are being exported or imported or that have been imported previously. The vehicles must be manufactured for the UK (right-hand drive) and be UK registered.

Are there any age restrictions?

We can arrange insurance for drivers aged between 18 and 75.

Can you arrange insurance if I’m not a UK resident?

Unfortunately, if you are not a permanent resident of the UK (England, Scotland and Wales) we cannot arrange temporary vehicle insurance to you.

Which driving licences do you accept?

We only accept driving licences issued in Great Britain (England, Scotland or Wales).

Does it affect my no claims bonus?

You can’t accrue any no claims bonus on a temporary motorhome insurance policy, but if you have a claim this won’t affect any no claims bonus you’ve built up already.

How much is the excess?

The amount of excess varies – but will be confirmed before you buy your insurance. The amount will also be shown on the insurance certificate once you’ve bought insurance. There isn’t a separate excess for glass claims. The ‘excess’ is the first part of any claim you have to pay. Excess protection is available to add on to your policy.

My vehicle wasn’t recognised, what should I do?

When getting a quote online, please choose the make and model of your vehicle from the drop-down lists. The vehicle registration number you typed in will be shown on your policy certificate. If your vehicle isn’t listed at all then unfortunately this means we’re not able to arrange insurance for it.

When will my policy appear on the MID?

DayInsure, through which cover is provided, guarantees to update the Motor Insurance Database (MID) every 7 days and in some cases more often. However we recommend always having a copy of your insurance certificate with you during the period of cover. You can drive the vehicle legally between the dates and times shown on the insurance certificate issued to you.
