When is Silverstone Classic show 2017?

The 2017 Silverstone Classic show takes place over the weekend of July 28-30th. Doors open at 7.30 am each day and close at 11pm on Friday and Saturday, 6.30 pm on Sunday.

Where is the 2017 Silverstone Classic show held?

Naturally enough the show is hosted at the iconic Silverstone Circuit in Towcester, Northamptonshire. Billed as the home of British motorsport, Silverstone is located about 11 miles south of junction 15a of the M1. The circuit is around 14 miles north of junction 10 of the M40. From either motorway, follow the A43 and then the Silverstone Classic signage put in place for the event. Silverstone Circuit's postcode is NN12 8TN. Allow plenty of time for your journey as this is a popular event in a rural location and public transport is limited. The nearest train stations are Banbury, Milton Keynes and Northampton. How much are Silverstone Classic tickets?

A three day weekend ticket costs £118 for adults, £12 for accompanied children. If you fancy doing it under canvas, a family weekend ticket (2 adults, 2 children) including camping is £334. Two-day tickets are £90 (Friday and Saturday) or £192 (Saturday and Sunday). Child discounts are not available. Finally, if you just want to pop down for one day, it'll set you back £43 (Friday) £66 (Saturday) or £55 (Sunday). Accompanied kids can get in any day for £6.

What's on at Silverstone Classic 2017?

The show offers an amazing array of automotive entertainments. Over 100 car clubs will be represented and more than 10,000 classic vehicles. They're not just there to be admired. A packed racing schedule features single seater, GT, sports, touring and motorcycle contests. The latter will see former World GP Bike Legends donning their leathers, including Aussie ace Wayne Gardiner, fellow 500cc champ 'Fast' Freddie Spencer, TT queen Maria Costello MBE and British title-taker Steve Parrish. Back on four wheels the Celebrity Challenge Trophy Race will see a number of famous faces taking the wheels of Austin A30s and A35s. All four of those GP Legends are giving it a go with other stars in a reasonably fast car set to include telly Dragon Theo Paphitis, petrolheaded presenters Tiff Needle and Tony Jardine and Olympic gold medallists Jason Kenny, Greg and Jonny Searle.

Jaguar's silver service

A very special celebration is planned to mark the 25th birthday of Jaguar's modern classic, the XJ220. Don Law Racing is aiming to bring together fifty of just 271 of the two-seaters produced by the luxury car maker between 1992-94. Jaguar's fastest ever production supercar, they came armed with a gutsy 3.5 litre twin turbocharged V6 which powered the super-stylish model to over 212 mph in testing. It was not just fast but fortune-busting, some £470,00 being required to savour the undoubted pleasure of not just driving but owning one of these beautiful beasts. The prowl of XJ220s will have the tarmac rolled out for one of Silverstone's celebrated cavalcades. That honour is also being extended to McLaren marque as the circuit heralds what would have been the great pioneer Bruce McLaren's 80th birthday. The McLaren Owners Club have teamed up with the show's organisers to put on what promises to be quite a spectacle. [caption id="attachment_3981" align="aligncenter" width="384"]

McLaren's stunning 650S.[/caption] Around 120 McLaren road cars have been lined up, including the P1 hypercar and current 570GT. The tribute to the great motorsport pioneer will be led by his daughter Amanda McLaren. She will head the parade in memory of the father taken from her in a tragic test driving accident at Goodwood. Ace space There will be more for bikers over at the Ace Corner Silverstone Classic, hosted by the Ace Café. On an away trip from its famous home on London's North Circular Road, the not-so-greasy spoon will be hosting a Mods 'n' Rockers themed display of motorcycles and scooters. Family fun There's going to be plenty to keep those budding motorsports enthusiasts happy too. The JET village green is laying on funfair rides, the JET Big Wheel, crazy golf and food and drink stalls. The skies will also be alive with air displays from the Gazelle Squadron and Twister Aerobatics team providing exhilarating entertainment suitable for all ages.
