Having already served up
one tantalising teaser of the biking eye-candy you’ll find on our Motorcycle Live stand, we thought it was time to give you a Rocket!
To be more precise we’re giving you Rob Kingston’s awesome 265bhp Triumph Rocket III, a throbbing monster of a machine which will sit centre-stage alongside our previously announced stand star, the custom award-winning DMC Eccythump Scrambler.
Built in stages over the past ten years and swallowing up some £50k of the Thatcham biker’s hard earned, Rob’s Rocket is a thing of extraordinary beauty – and power. A
Rotrex supercharger added much extra heft to the 145bhp 2.3 litre engine, adding 120 units of equine energy and generating a whopping 195ft/lbs torque at the BST carbon fibre back wheel.

That rear roller is one of only ten made which sounds uber-rare until you consider the front wheel, also a BST carbon fibre, which was added to the bike last year and is believed to be one of only two ever to hit the tarmac. Those mighty 18x18” wheels of course required equally monumental yokes for which Rob turned to
Moore Speed Racing, the Poole outfit responding with slick fitting 395mm wide billets, 50mm thick at the top, 80mm at the bottom.
There’s much more to dribble over mind you, including an immense under and over-braced alloy swingarm, produced at
GIA Engineering’s workshop by company supremo Gav Goddard. Three years back Rob also stripped the bike down, shipping various parts off for nickel plating and more polishing than a politician’s Wikipedia profile. A stunning new paint job courtesy of custom specialists
Wicked Coatings completed the aesthetic overhaul and indeed the bike which, unbelievably, Rob is now thinking of parting from. It is now advertised for sale via a
dedicated Facebook group.

Whilst breaking up is no doubt hard to do, the end of his ten-year love affair is sure to mean desire is sparked elsewhere. So, if sight of this magnificent machine sets your heart fluttering then, rather than going for internet dating, pop down to the Principal stand (4C40) to ogle this ravishing beauty at close quarters. To see is to be smitten but if you’re in the market for some motorcycle live beware that this road raver is no cheap date.
Mind you with Rob open to offers around £25k you’ll be getting a lot of bang for your buck given the financial – not to say creative and emotional – investment he’s made over the past decade.
