hen is Race, Rock 'n' Ride 2017? Race, Rock 'n' Ride sponsored by Principal Insurance takes place on Saturday May 20th and Sunday May 21st 2017. Gates open at 8.00 am on both days.

Where is the Race, Rock 'n' Ride bike festival held?

The Race, Rock 'n' Ride bike show is held at the Santa Pod Raceway. This world-famous track hosts many motorsport races and events, including the ear-splitting, flame-spewing FIA European Drag Racing Championships.

You'll find Santa Pod just south east of Wellingborough at Airfield Road, Podington, Wellingborough, Northants, NN29 7XA.

Directions to Santa Pod Raceway?

By bike or car. For details of road routes to Santa Pod Raceway from the M1, (north and south), A6 (north and south) A1 (north and south), A14 (east) and M40 (West), click here. Beware! Do not take exits off the A6 for Milton Ernest or Souldrop, even if your sat-nav urges you. They do not offer routes to Santa Pod. Exit instead at Wymington. If you need take public transport... The nearest train station is at Wellingborough on the Midland Main Line which runs between London St Pancras and Sheffield. This line also connects Luton, Bedford, Leicester, Derby and Nottingham. As here are no bus routes serving Santa Pod so budget for a taxi for the final leg.

How much are tickets for Race, Rock 'n' Ride?

Weekend tickets are a snip at just £23 in advance, which includes free camping and live music. They're £30 on the gate. Day tickets are £13 in advance, £20 on the gate. Accompanied children under 16 go free, with a maximum of three per adult.

Advanced tickets, which are subject to booking fees, are available until Friday May 12th.

If you want to hit the track, unlimited daily race vouchers are £25. These must be purchased before 5pm on May 12th.

What's on at Race, Rock 'n Ride 2017?

Bikes!

Anyone who went to the inaugural Race, Rock 'n Ride will tell you that weekend is packed with a more top notch entertainment than you can shake a stick at! Read our 2016 review and you'll get a flavour of just how much this amazing festival has to offer. On the motorcycle front, there's freestyle motocross displays from Broke FMX, plus high performance scooter shows from 100mph Scooter . There's the hair-raising, spine-tingling , adrenaline-generating and totally unmissable British stunt bike championships. There's modern, classic and custom bike displays. Indeed the lovely lads 'n' lasses at Back Street Heroes are hosting a custom motorcycle contest. Always an enticing prospect BSH's impressive track record means you just know this will be an eye-popping feast of fantastic metal. Race Rock n Ride

Not to be out done, sister publication Fast Bikes has organised a perennial favourite of all track-based shows; Run What Your Brung. This is your chance to get take your machine out on the hallowed tarmac. You'll find an array of custom bikes featuring among motorcycle displays.

Among tasty bikes on show will be our own Principal liveried Diavel.[/caption] New for this year's show are the ACU National Drag Bike championships. Even the kings of speed at Fast Bikes have to doff their visors to the super-quick schtick of the Funny Bikes - monsters that can chew up that 1/4 mile strip in fewer than six seconds. Talking of bikes that go like a nasty brown substance off a garden implement, another must is Eric Treboul and his frankly lunatic rocket bike. The Frenchman holds the world record for being the fastest accelerating man on two wheels. Sat astride his hydrogen-peroxide fuelled motorcycle he's broken 208 mph. Safe to say, on the Santa Pod strip he puts on quite a spectacle, as this popular fans' eye video shows.

Cars!

Whilst Race, Rock 'n' Ride is primarily a bike festival, there's plenty more for petrolheads to enjoy. Rocket-fuel heads too, given the presence of the FireForce Jet Car. Capable of clocking over 270mph, this is the world's fastest funny car. We're talking a machine capable of going from Santa Pod green lights to finishing line in an astonishing five seconds. It also makes a glorious and unholy noise. We loved it last year. And we mean loved it. An amazing sight, an amazing sound. Don't believe us? Then check out this video. It's immense!

Trucks!

We are, of course, not talking of your common-or-garden pick-up. Not that there's anything wrong with such a wonderfully utilitarian four-wheeler. No, we're talking monster trucks. Massive Jurassic Park-sized machines with wheels bigger than Jeremy Clarkson's ego. You can sit back and enjoy joyfully pointless destruction as Podzilla jumps a line of old motors. SPOILER ALERT! It doesn't end well for them. As you can see. This is great, noisy and utterly inane entertainment. We defy you not to grin and giggle at proceedings. 2016 Race Santa Pod

Music!

For those making a weekend of it, there's also live entertainment. Limehouse Lizzy hit the stage on Saturday, knocking out with both verve and panache the back catalogue of revered Irish rockers, Thin Lizzy. Support comes from West Midlands outfit, Anchors & Alibis, who'll be offering up their own brand of alternative rock. You can check out their tune, Patience, here. Between bands Tina Saul from TotalRock will be hitting the decks, keeping things proper lively with a heady mix of rock and metal.
