Insurance industry unites in aid of The Change Foundation

Posted on Nov 02, 2020

Today we are officially launching The Insurance Change Championships (ICC), an industry-embracing initiative to raise much need funds for the award-winning youth charity, The Change Foundation (TCF). Whilst being launched by us, it’s not about us. It’s about our fellow brokers, insurers and other industry associates uniting to help transform the lives of disadvantaged young people. It’s about coming together - at a time when we can’t physically come together - to make a difference.

So what are the Insurance Change Championships?

In short a series of physical challenges and online social events in which everyone can take part, from the smallest broker to the largest multinational, call centre agent to CEO. We’d love for you to join in, have fun and change lives. Initially the ICCs feature three fundraising platforms:
  • Cover The Circuits - over 12 days, walk, run or jog the equivalent length of MOTO GP racing tracks
  • Stadium Stars – Rack up squats or workout steps equivalent to the capacity of your chosen stadium or other venue.
  • Wine Time – join our virtual wine tasting and guided by our sommelier, you’ll learn all about and enjoy wines previously delivered to your doorstep.
These are just for starters. We will launch further challenges as the ICCs progress. One thing we are looking is the possibility of launching a particularly exciting online gaming tournament. We’re not setting an overall fundraising target beyond “as much as we can lads and lasses!” We’re simply inviting participating businesses to set their own target so that collectively our industry can provide a welcome boost to The Change Foundation.

Change FoundationWhat does The Change Foundation do?

"We exist to help young people find solutions to deal with these social issues through the power of sport." The Change Foundation uses sport to engage with and change the lives of marginalised young people. As it says: This award-winning charity delivers long-term intervention to support the most vulnerable young people in society. Coach mentors, themselves with lived experience of the issues faced by these young people, provide regular sporting, personal mentoring and work-related opportunities. Some of the issues The Change Foundation addresses with its innovative and effective programmes include:
  • Youth unemployment - which the economic impact of the Covid-19 crisis is likely to increase
  • Mental health and coping mechanisms
  • Social media influence and addiction
  • Knife crime and serious violence
  • Disability inclusion and creating equal opportunities
