Principal named among UK's top 50 personal insurance brokers

A survey by industry bible Insurance Age has named Principal Insurance among the UK's top 50 personal insurance brokers.
It is the second year running, we have featured in the magazine's Top 50 Brokers in Personal Lines report (subscription). This underlines the impressive growth we have secured and consolidated since we were founded in a little over nine years ago
"I am immensely proud of everything the business has achieved in such a relatively short space of time," commented managing director Dave Bowcock.
"From a standing in May 2011 we have clearly established Principal among the elite of the UK personal insurance broking market. That achievement is all the more impressive when you consider that we have historically focused not on high volume but niche sectors, such as specialist car, motorhome, van and motorcycle insurance."
He added that he was extremely excited for the future, with the mainstream car insurance market among key targets for growth.
Car is the UK's biggest personal insurance market and only this week Principal launched on Compare The Market, the largest price comparison player in the sector.
We were already listed on other key sites such as Go Compare and innovative 'disruptor' Honcho.
Despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, we've continued to grow and are on course to serve well over 50,000 policyholders by our financial year end in October.
The Top 50 listing also only counts business transacted in the UK and Northern Ireland. This means it excluded our highly successful business in Dublin, where we claim an estimated 30% share of the Republic of Ireland's motorcycle insurance market.
