About Us

What’s the Principal Insurance story?

Established in 2011, Principal Insurance are a fast-growing specialist insurance broker offering an extensive range of motorcycle, car, motorhome, van, home and business policies.

Based in Sale, Manchester, we were founded by Managing Director Dave Bowcock.

Dave is a highly experienced insurance industry executive who spent the previous 14 years working within the specialist motorcycle insurance UK sector.

Having secured extensive boardroom experience, Dave decided it was time to invest his expertise in a new service-led business. A business that offered a fresh approach to insurance: Principal.

Dave leads a committed and talented team at our modern headquarters in Manchester.

Over 40,000 policyholders

With the company demonstrating strong growth, by 2014 we were arranging policies worth over £3.3m , a figure which today stands at over £20m.

Having diversified from our original motorcycle insurance specialism, we now serve over 40,000 policyholders with a wide range of specialist personal and commercial insurance policies.

We have specialist vehicle schemes to assist riders and drivers with motoring convictions and offer a range of discounts to members of recognised owners clubs, holders of Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) advanced training certificates and those who have fitted additional approved security.

To ensure we can root out the best deal for you we work with a wide range of the UK’s leading insurers. These include Ageas, Aviva, Axa, Covea, Highway (part of LV=), KGM and NIG.

Our motorbike insurance product offering is equally extensive with our core lines complemented by multi-bike insurance, limited mileage and protected no claims bonus options, excess protection, UK & European breakdown and accident assistance, motor legal protection, Licence Defence, helmet and leathers cover, personal accident and Keycare.

In addition our portfolio has grown to embrace specialist car, motorhome and van insurance, together with niche commercial insurance products such as courier and fleet insurance policies.
