Concerned MCE Insurance customer? Don't panic - help is at hand!

Posted on Jan 12, 2022

On Tuesday 11th January. Green Realisations 123 Ltd, formerly MCE Insurance Company Ltd, wrote to its motorbike and scooter policyholders to announce its intention to disclaim their insurance policies. In plain English that means cover will end and policyholders will no longer be insured. The company's administrators have warned it intends for this to happen at midnight on Monday 31 January. The administrators have advised MCE Insurance motorcycle and scooter policyholders that they will "need to seek and put in place alternative insurances." Affected policyholders therefore have just under three weeks to arrange alternative motorbike insurance. Our message to them is simple; don't panic. Help is at hand. We are sad to hear of the troubles that have hit MCE Insurance Company. This news is particularly sad given it impacts well over 100,000 bikers and scooterists, leaving them with unanswered questions, confusion and, from the end of the month, without insurance. As we said, don't panic. Our bike insurance experts are here to help. As soon as this news broke last night, we took action. We have been in touch with our panel of specialist motorcycle, moped and scooter insurance underwriters. These include the likes of Aviva, Axa, Ageas, KGM, LV+ (Highway) and Markerstudy. We and they can help.

multi bike insuranceProtecting No Claims Discounts

Knowing that a key concern among MCE policyholders is the status of  their No Claims Bonus (NCB) we have negotiated special terms. This means we have some leeway to accept NCB accrued on a current MCE policy and transfer it to new cover brokered by Principal. The situation remains fluid so we are dealing with this on a case-by-case basis. If you have concerns about potentially losing NCB you were building with MCE we would strongly recommend you call our specialist bike insurance team on 0330 024 0087. Without delay.

Discounts for MCE customers

Through discussions with our insurer partners, we have also secured special discounts exclusively for MCE Insurance customers. This is in addition to the discounts  our existing policyholders already enjoy. These include reductions for advanced riding qualifications, membership of a recognised owners club, fitting of insurance-approved security, limited mileage and multi-bike discounts. Don't forget we can assist you with modern, classic, custom, moped, scooter, trike and multi-bike insurance.  We offer instant cover and bite-sized payment schemes (subject to status). Whilst we are aware that it may currently be difficult for you to obtain your proof of NCB. Again we may be able to help with this. Please also remember you should have received your insurance schedule and other documents as PDFs by email or on paper by post when you took out cover.
