Polaris Industries cannot only lay claim to America’s oldest motorcycle company in Indian, but also one of its newest: custom motorcycles company Victory Motorcycles.
Previously best known for its snowmobiles, Polaris had been watching the positive progress of Harley-Davidson and decided it would itself like a slice of the heavyweight market, founding custom motorcycles company Victory in 1998.
A year later the mighty V92C heralded the arrival of a proudly 100% American custom motorcycles marque, the new machine being borne of design and manufacturing expertise in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Sportscruiser and tourer versions followed before a brand new custom cruiser, the Vegas, arrived in 2003.
That Harley was in its sights was never really in question but the recruitment of world renowned Hog customiser Arlen Ness to the Victory cause rammed home the point, the Ness Signature Series producing distinctive limited editions of the Vegas, Jackpot and Kingpin models.
However, the story came to an end with the winding down of Victory custom motorcycles from January 2017.
Where? The Victory custom motorcycles range were assembled in Spirit Lake, Iowa which is also home to the Indian operation.
What? Cruisers, Custom cruisers, Sportstourers, Tourers.
